FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
-
- How long are your sessions? – Typically our sessions last about an hour. For people with very busy schedules, we are able to offer 30 minute express workouts.
- How do I get started? – To get started you need to email or call us, and let us know what days and times you’d like to workout. We’ll then figure out which trainer to set you up with, and what day and time will work for your orientation workout.
- What if I’m not in good shape? – Don’t worry. At Define Fitness we use a progressive program that is scaled to your needs and abilities. During your orientation workout and continued through your entire introductory program we will assess all facets of your fitness and safely push you to do what you can handle, no more and no less. If you’re not in very good shape we’ll ease you into things, and gradually increase the intensity of the workouts. If you can be patient about your progress, so can we. Most people start in the same situation as you, so you shouldn’t feel embarrassed. The worst excuse we ever hear for why someone doesn’t want to start working out, is that they need to get in better shape before they can get in shape. That makes no sense. You will get nothing but support and encouragment from the trainers as well as the other people you workout with. No matter what your age, gender, body type, or history is, you deserve the opportunity to improve your situation and progress at your own pace. Most people are shocked at how quickly they start to improve over the course of their early months of training.
- Will I be sore? – Yes, especially when you first start a new workout program, you will probably feel pretty sore the first week or two. Over time your body will start to recover better and become more conditioned to the rigors of the workouts, and the soreness will not be so extreme. Generally soreness is caused by your body doing something it has never done before, doing something your body hasn’t done in a long time, or doing a high volume of work that your body isn’t used to. You can help reduce the time that you are sore by consistently drinking plenty of water, eating the right amount of nutrients your body needs for muscle repair, warming up properly before workouts, stretching after workouts, icing your muscles after a hard workout, getting regular massages or using some kind of self massage device, and by getting a plenty of restful sleep.
